Our rich, broad and balanced curriculum is linked, in order to provide opportunities for pupils to know more and remember more through engaging and memorable experiences – leading to improved attainment. Teaching and learning is planned through the pedagogy of teaching backwards, with community links and cultural references to give the learning purpose.

At Manorfield the teaching of History is centred upon the expansion and dissolution of empires due to power struggles over land and religious beliefs. At Manorfield we recognise that each period of time has had an impact on how we live today, through their achievements and failures. Our teaching of history provides children with opportunities to see the past through new lenses, immerses children in unfamiliar worlds and enables children to see how migration has created the diverse world we live in today.

At Manorfield the teaching of Geography begins with the pupils’ local area, which then leads to an ever-increasing understanding of the world around them. The teaching of human and physical geography teaches pupils how things in their world work, the impact of humans on the physical world, and builds on knowledge from previous years.
